Nia has been in my life for a long time.  For me, Nia is the perfect blend of dance and
yoga.  The routines are fun and accessible to all levels of athletic ability.  I love that
Lisa-Anne thoughtfully keeps the same routine for 4-6 weeks, as this allows the
participant to explore the movement as well as the music.  I was looking for a new
exercise regimen in which I could burn calories, build muscle and enjoy the process.
Nia enables me to do this, while also helping me to love my body and respect it,
despite its limitations.

Like many adults, I started Nia with some identified and unidentified physical
challenges.  I have struggled with upper back and neck problems for many years.
More recently, I developed plantar fasciitis in my right foot.  Many of my physical
problems stem from hyper-flexibility.  In Nia, I have learned to listen to my body and
improve my core strength.  With direction from Lisa-Anne, I have learned to focus on
the proper positioning of my neck and back in order to improve my posture.  She also
taught me to focus on my foot alignment when I walk.  When chronic and painful
physical issues begin to heal, there is emotional healing as well.

Lisa-Anne embodies Nia.  She is sensitive to each participant’s goals and challenges.
Most importantly, she offers more than an exercise class.  Participants leave class
energized and nourished.  To me, Lisa-Anne is a mentor and friend.  When you have
Lisa-Anne as your instructor, you will want to dance every day for the rest of your life.
